We all have a New Years Resolution in mind! If your resolution is to get your finances in check to buy a home in 2018, then we’ve got you covered! Buying a home may seem stressful and overwhelming but when you know what you’re getting yourself into, it’s a lot less of all of that.
That’s why we're here! We have years of experience helping our clients find the home of their dreams and not break the bank. We’ve created our top four list of items to get you started in achieving your goal to get into a new home this year.
CREATE A SAVINGS PLAN
You have a timeframe of when you want to purchase your home. With that timeframe in mind, make a plan to build your savings. These savings will be your placeholder for a down payment, closing costs and other expenses that come with buying a new home. However, those additional expenses may not be necessary when you hire the right realtor who will negotiate for you and make sure you’re getting the best deal! Once you identify your saving goals, consider using our Mortgage Calculator to test our your monthly payment options. This will help you narrow down your budget and keep you in line with saving just the right amount.
CHECK YOUR CREDIT
Easy as it sounds; check your credit! You truly don’t know your financial situation until you know what lenders will be seeing. Your credit score not only determines what you’re approved for but will help lenders offer better interest rates and incentives for having a great credit score.
Once you see your credit and aren’t completely happy with your score, look at paying down your balances and boost your score within that timeline you’ve set for yourself to purchase your new home.
Looking into the neighborhood, area, and type of home you want is important. Each neighborhood offers different valuables amenities and may have higher home values than others. Once you know where you want to establish your future, consider the size of the home, extended features, and other elements you absolutely need for your family. Once you narrow down your needs, you’re better able to understand the price difference in neighborhoods and different types of homes. It's important to research and consider your sources when looking at the type of home you’ll be investing in.
And then comes the big step … APPLY! Once you apply and get your pre-approval, you’re in the clear to really dig into searching for your home and getting steps closer to stepping into your new home. Don’t let home buying overwhelm you and take over your life. Hire a trusted realtor to help you guide you and find you the right location and space for your family.
